SQL 2014 Launch - DB Engine

Speaker: Michael DeFehr, Consultant MDD Solutions

Summary: SQL 2014 is available on April 1. What's new? Hekaton for one - AKA In-Memory OLTP. I'll spend a lot of time talking about Hekaton as it is one of the most key new features in 2014, but we'll also take a look at the updatable columnstore, cloud integration, backup encryption, delayed durability and partition indexing. SQL 2014 is a huge step forward in taking the SQL platform to the Enterprise level. Come see it firsthand in this fun and demo-intensive session.

Power BI for Office 365

Speaker: Mike Diehl, Senior Architect Imaginet Resources Corp

Summary: Mike Diehl, the practice lead for Databases and Business Intelligence at Imaginet, will demonstrate some of the capabilities of Power BI and how to gain insights into your data using Excel and the new Power BI features that are built on Excel, like Power Query, Power Pivot, Power View, and Power Map. This enables users to perform data discovery, analysis, and visualization using the tools they are already familiar with. Power BI is also part of Office 365, which provides a platform for collaboration through SharePoint Online. Power BI sites also have a natural language query interface, which will be demonstrated, and support mobile access through HTML5 and touch optimized apps.
