Featured Presentation

SQL Server Upgrade / Migration

Speaker: Eric Stegne, Database Administrator Big Freight Systems Inc.

Summary: Doing a SQL Server Upgrade / Migration is a lot of work. Do you chance it with an In-Place Upgrade or do you go the route of a fresh install? Each option has its pros and cons as well as its risks. This presentation will touch on both topics but will focus on setting up a new SQL Server environment, what you need to consider, possible issues, etc. I'll briefly cover maintenance plans, severity alerts, migrating logins as well as agent jobs, and finally the actual cut over.

About Eric: Eric has worked with SQL Server for the past nine years primarily focusing on Business Intelligence and Database Administration. Today, Eric spends his time with server administration, writing reports, performance tuning queries, and squeezing every ounce of performance out of SQL Server.
