Featured Presentation

The Wonders of Modern SQL Administration

Speaker: Kirill Kravtsov, DBA Wawanesa Insurance

Summary: Update: Presentation and scripts files are here: Ever been tired of doing the same action over and over again? Writing RESTORE DATABASE sequences from the backup files with MOVE? Wrapping statements into dynamic t-sql to collect information from remote instances? Migrating multiple databases to a different server(s)? Surprisingly, each of the tasks above - tasks that require a lot of manual effort and attention to details - can be done with writing just a few lines in a Powershell console! During this session you will see by yourself how easy it is to automate mundane processes using collective knowledge of SQL community. No coding experience required!

About Kirill: MS SQL DBA for the last 10 years, currently working on improving and automating database administration processes at Wawanesa Insurance in Winnipeg. Extensively using Powershell ever since 2016 with varying degrees of success, which led to becoming a contributor to the dbatools project a few months back. Aside from IT, I enjoy rock music (was a drummer in a rock band a few years back), video games, hiking, travelling, reading and good company.
